ASP Top 45 Prepare for the Heaviest Billabong Pro Teahupoo in History

Event No. 5 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Teahupoo, boasts a venue largely considered one of the most dangerous waves on the planet, and with solid swells projected and the added pressure of the mid-year ASP field reduction, this season’s Billabong Pro Teahupoo is turning into one of the heaviest events in history.

Billabong is launching its next generation of wetsuit technology – a super-lightweight steamer that has the fit of a second skin.

The new SGX is significantly lighter when wet than traditional wetsuits.

Like last year the Swiss surfers come together to qualify not only for the Swiss Surfing Team, but also to participate in international events. But unlike last year there is a new location for the event: Zarautz, in the Basque Country of northern Spain.

Second to last event on this year’s ASP European Men’s Pro Junior Series, the much expected ASP Grade-2 Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior is set for action starting tomorrow Wednesday, August 4, and running through Sunday, August 8.

The young Italian surfer and Quiksilver team member Leonardo Fioravanti today emerged victorious in the European Final of the Quiksilver King of the Groms 2010, on the beach in Zarautz, ahead of France's Alexandre Descacq and the two Basques Ethan Eguiguren and Naxto Gonzalez .
