Imagine: Bungalows with hammocks that sit on a hill and face the Pacific Ocean; just minutes away is an exposed beach

which receives swell from the north, west and south and offers good left and rights almost every day. Without a doubt

that sounds like a Buena Vida ( “good life” ). In Ayampe at the Ruta del Sol Bungalows La Buena Vida offers you surf as

well as nature packages and a great flora and fauna, peace and great waves.

The Surf Camp

The six brand new spacious bungalows sit on top of a hill and face the Pacific Ocean. Each has own bathroom (with hot water),

A.C., fan, comfortable beds, closet for storage and a patio with hammocks where you can relax in the sun and enjoy the

refreshing ocean breeze.

For breakfast, light snacks and entertaining purposes there is the „Vida Bar“: Sit back and relax while playing video games or

watching sports or movies on a 40 inch LCD-TV. Besides the hammocks, swings and bamboo seats you will find on the whole

property, the owners Marylin and Keith provide a familiar and relaxing atmosphere. 

The Surf

The beach break right on the doorstep is absolutely uncrowded and offers left and right waves of a length of up to 200 meters

depending on the swell. Glassy morning sessions are pretty much guaranteed by the calm during the morning hours.

The sandbanks are suitable both for beginners and pros with average wave heights between 3 and 6 feet (1-2 m). Also the big

swells, which frequently come in during the high season from November to May, can be surfed here until a height of approx.

12 feet (3,5 m).

But if that's not enough for you, go out by boat to one of the riff spots and enjoy lashing barrels or pushing walls.

- Map for you to keep of local surf breaks with directions and descriptions of each.
- 1 canopy tour in the Machallia National Park with use of pool afterwards.

Optional photo session for $100 per person to shoot you daily for an hour so you can have lasting memories of your surf trip.

Region

The Bungalows La Buena Vida are at KM 86 on the route of the sun (Ruta del Sol) in Ayampe. Surrounded by the stunning flora

of tropical rainforest, numerous bird species, mountain ranges in the back and the undisturbed peace makes this place the ideal

place to relax and watch one of the most beautiful amazing sunsets of the planet... 

How to get there 

The closest airport to Ayampe actually is Guayaquil (GYE), whereto you can fly non-stop from the United States and Spain.

From the airport you have several possibilities to get to La Buena Vida: The most simple way is to ask Marylin and Keith for a transfer

(100 US$ return). Or they help you organize a rental car, so you drive the 2,5 hours by yourself and be independent to

explore the surroundings of Ayampe.

Of course you can reach La Buena Vida also with public transportation: take the CLP bus from Terminal Terreste in Guayaquil to Olon

which is just 15 minutes south of Ayampe (US$ 5.50). From there you catch the local bus that stops just in front of the Bungalows

La Buena Vida (US$ 1). For adventurers and people who want to improve their Spanish this is probably the perfect way to this surf camp.

In the closer future there might open two other international airports that both lie closer to Ayampe. If you have any questions
