Camino Surf

For the Camino surf crew, surfing is not just another water sports activity – but a profoundly meaningful practice that brings

physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits. To sustain the beauty of surfing for generations to come, Camino Surf participates

in, and circulates information on an increased awareness for nature in general and the ocean in particular. Well known organizations

like the Surfrider-Foundation and Carbonfund support this endeavor.

The Surf Camp

The Camp is located in Valdovino (Galicia), in the uttermost northwest of Spain, the well-known area of Ferrolterra. The camp offers

different types of accommodation:

Base Camp: The camp is based on a 3-star-campsite and is just a catwalk from the beach Playa de Frouxeira. A couple of roomy

cotton-tents, equipped with mattresses, accommodate 20 people in total. The campsite has available: a cafe, a restaurant,

a small supermarket, clean facilities and free WIFI for all our clients.

Apartment: The apartments are located on the same campsite as the base camp, just around the corner of playa de Frouxeira.

There are different options available from 2-persons till 6-persons, including a „sardine“ option and a „shared apartment“ option.

The apartments are equipped with eat-in kitchen, bathroom, living room and a shared terrace with view on the bay of Frouxeira.

Bungalow: The bungalows, also based on the campsite, accommodate up to 5 people. They are equipped with a kitchen, shower,

toilet, double-bed room and triple room (with bunk bed), a veranda and garden with view on Playa de Frouxeira.

Villa: The surf villa is located about five kilometers from the beach and from the Camino Surf Base Camp. The house, a

early-19th-century villa, has five bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, a stylish salon with open fireplace, a huge garden and

a heated swimming pool.

Surfing

Camino Surf offers surf courses for different levels: beginners, intermediates and advanced. All courses are held by certified

instructors (DWV, ISA) on the Playa de Frouxeira and the surrounding beaches. The courses include surf sessions, video analysis,

surf theory lessons, and free surf sessions. Season: mid-May till mid-October.

Region

Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, is, up to now, widely untroubled by the effects of mass tourism and therefore still considered

a insider tip. Rolling sand dunes and endless white sandy beaches string together with ragged cliffs and tiny lagoons. The capital

of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, is renowned for its pilgrimage – the Camino de Santiago – and draws sightseers not least

due to its picturesque historic city center.

The charming seaport city of Ferrol, just 20 km from the Camino Base Camp, comes up with nice Cafes and Bars and also some

Discos and Clubs. Valdovino itself, home base of the Camino Surf Camp, also offers some bars and restaurants and a beautiful,

4 km wide, sandy beach with heaps of surfable waves, a lagoon as well as plenty of different surf spots in range. This guarantees

for a great nature and surfing experience.

Getting there

Airports A Coruna and Santiago de Compostela. Good offers at Ryanair from London and Frankfurt Hahn, vueling.com from Zurich,

Iberia from Vienna and Munich, etc. Camino Surf offers transfers from and to the airports. (Alternatively with public transport to

Ferrol and free transfer from there.)
